Local Information.
THE CHOLERA.—This dreadful scourge is winging its destructive way with terrible rapidity towards these Islands. It is urgently necessary that precautionary measures should be adopted in Bridgnorth, and we are happy to see this has been already anticipated as noticed in another column. Drains and sewers should be emptied, houses cleaned, nuisances removed, and other means adopted to mitigate the evil, especially as Bridgnorth seems a favorite spot for the exercise of its ravages. Many in this locality will have a mournful recollection of the last time the fatal pestilence swept over us. It cannot perhaps be averted, but it may undoubtedly be mitigated.
THE FAIR.—At our Fair here on Tuesday last there was a pretty good attendance, with a large show of sheep and cattle,—good fat wethers were quoted at 5½ to 6d. per lb.—lambs from 16s. to 19s. each,—store ewes were in very little request and many returned home unsold,—best fat cows were in active demand and met with a ready sale at 5½, barrens also went off readily, but upon the whole there was not so much business done as at our last fair.
